Argentinean forces expected an attack on Stanley so were unprepared when the British troops landed at San Carlos. A raid on Goose Green was a victory, because of the fighting quality 2 Para. Five hundred paras defeated 1500 Argentineans, but 17 British lives were lost including Major H. Jones. Landing at San Carlos meant many troops had to walk 25 miles to Teal becoming known as the famous ‘romp’ to battle for Stanley.
