Limited Signed Editions
A small number of these covers have been personally signed by Pete Waterman, the legendary record producer. Although he is most notable for having produced number one hits for artists such as Rick Astley, Steps, Cliff Richard and Donna Summer, he is also a keen railway enthusiast. He has been involved in several railway ventures, including a revival of the London and North Western Railway Company, and owns a steam locomotive and carriage restoration company called the LNWR Heritage based at Crewe. His Waterman Railway Heritage Trust owns several steam and diesel locomotives.
A small number of these covers have also been personally signed by Prof. Colin Divall, Professor of Railway Studies andHead of the Institute of Railway Studies & Transport History at The University of York.
The Classic Locomotives Series
Following on from the Great British Railways issue of 19 August 2010, this is the first of a series of Miniature Sheets that will look at steam locomotives in use in each of the home countries. The intention is to look at how steam locomotives were used not just on the public railway network but also in the context of industry in such locations as factories, quarries and docks. England will commence the series to be followed by Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Our cover features a montage of four paintings that we commissioned specially for the issue from the wonderful artist John Wigston GRA. Each painting portrays one of the great locomotives featured in the issue and is a stunning tribute to our great railway heritage
