The Classic Locomotives SeriesFollowing on from the Great British Railways issue of 19 August 2010, this is the first of a series of Miniature Sheets that will look at steam locomotives in use in each of the home countries. The intention is to look at how steam locomotives were used not just on the public railway network but also in the context of industry in such locations as factories, quarries and docks. England will commence the series to be followed by Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. The Classic Locomotives SetThis Classic Locomotives of England issue features four of the most iconic of the English locomotives. We have therefore produced four covers to make a set: one for each locomotive. To make these covers stand out a little bit more, we have commissioned the wonderful artist John Wigston GRA to paint each locomotive, and feel this is a real testament to our great railway heritage Peckett Type R2
