Birds Post & Go Series

The Birds Post & Go stamp issues are an interesting piece of postal history - commemorative stamps issued from machines. The first and second set of stamps of the issue all featured garden birds, which were chosen as a result of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Great Garden Birdwatch, whereas the third set depicts water birds that can be found on or close to Britain's lakes, rivers and streams. Post & Go terminals are a relatively new philatelic inovation, allowing customers to weight their letters and packets, pay for and print postage labels and stamps without the need to visit the counter. Trialed in 2007, there are now over 30 Post & Go machines around the UK, and have helped many people avoid those dreaded queues!

The Last of the Summer Wine

To commemorate the very final episode of Last of the Summer Wine, the longest-running and one of the most popular comedy programme in Britain, we decided to use the stamps from this Birds Post & Go issue to create some special first day covers. Both covers are helping us to raise money for RAF Bomber Command.
